Information literacy over the years has been transitioning to a broader concept. Many now use "Information Fluency" as a term which encompasses more that just information literacy. Now the term metaliteracy is being used at times.
Information literacy is a set of abilities requiring individuals to "recognize when information is needed and have the ability to locate, evaluate, and use effectively the needed information."
